Distributable IP Ethernet Design: FB-MESH/IP™ systems consist of a core set of distributable “Internet Protocol (IP)” based modules that connect to an Ethernet backbone through FireBus “Multi-path Ethernet Safety Hub (MESH)” routers. The modules are intelligent so no central processing unit is required, connect two modules together and the fire alarm system springs to life.
Distributed technology gives system designers the flexibility to ‘fit’ the fire alarm system to diverse layouts by distributing the modules out to their point of use. This minimizes wiring requirements, distributes processing power and adds a level of survivability previously unavailable to the general life-safety industry.
Modules connected to the backbone are identified by a private IP address unique to each module. Communication between modules is more robust, reliable and secure than with any other communication methodology.
Where permitted by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), FB-MESH/IP™ systems may also tie into existing Ethernet backbones to significantly reduce installation costs.
The reason for this is simple: FB-MESH/IP™ systems use the very same communication technologies that are “proven in use” by more than 100 million worldwide users to safely and seamlessly conduct commerce, manage banking activities, buy and sell securities and more.
It would be hard to find a more trusted, tested and reliable medium.
